Job description

The Finance Manager will play a critical role in delivering professional financial analysis,

advice, and guidance to racecourse management teams. Working collaboratively with the

wider finance team, the Finance Manager will support key decision-making, ensuring

financial insight, value creation, and robust financial assurance across operations.

This hands-on role requires strong financial expertise and the ability to influence and

challenge stakeholders effectively.

The Finance Manager will be responsible for driving

performance, supporting strategic initiatives, and delivering clear financial insight to

management teams across different regions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with management to support strategic and commercial decision-making.
  • Provide expert financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting to drive performance and efficiency.
  • Lead monthly financial reviews, KPIs, and Profit & Loss reporting for senior leadership and CFO.
  • Oversee annual budget planning, multi-year forecasts, and preparation of materials for CEO approval.
  • Monitor financial performance, identify risks, and deliver value-for-money recommendations.
  • Support capital project proposals and grant applications.
  • Manage balance sheet reporting, trial balance reconciliations, and audit requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with governance, statutory, and tax obligations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support system implementations.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across finance and operations.

Skills & Experience:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA) with 3-5 years post-qualification experience.
  • Strong financial modelling, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Commercially aware with a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
  • Advanced Excel skills; knowledge of SUN system preferred but not essential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a high level of accuracy.
